Supply chain challenges

26 May 2021

At this stage, the shortage of semiconductors is a commonly known global challenge affecting all industries. Our manufacturers are struggling to get their hands on the necessary chipsets and raw material for their production. A consequence of this is longer lead time and, in some cases, increased prices which unfortunately leads to uncertain delivery information and long term pricing development. Right now, some suppliers can’t even estimate delivery time at all when receiving orders. Once we get an estimate, lead times of 6–12+ months or more are not unusual. We do our very best to keep stock and review sales orders to fulfill demand, but to face this challenge, we urge you to look through demand as far as possible and place orders to secure projects.

How will this ongoing component shortage affect me?
  • Much longer lead times on many products. In some cases extremely long lead times extending well beyond a year.
  • New module revisions might come. Module manufacturers are looking into replacement components to shorten lead time.
  • Possibly higher prices. Cost is increasing on everything from cables, adapters to modules.
Currently we are seeing around 10– 20% cost increases.
  • The component shortage might force products into early EOL. Older products with lower volume have a higher risk of being affected.
